You may have noticed it is not, in fact, 11.28.2025. And you're right. Time is weird wacky stuff.

So there's this game, right? Baldur's Gate 3. Reckon there's a 1 and a 2 out there somewhere but it's really none of my business.

Never regularly indulged in video games myself until the pandemic hit and then my reasoning was: why the hell not. These days I enjoy the luxury of disappearing into another world for a few hours if I need to. Helps with the anxiety, keeps me out of real-world trouble for the most part.

Anyway it's a good game. Great storytelling, voice acting, elder brains, owlbears, et cetera. You can cast a spell called Tasha's Hideous Laughter if you want. You can have affairs with devils, demons, really just about anyone.

This is not a kid's game by the way. There's shitloads of nudity if you play it right.

Here's the premise (spoilers): in the beginning you're infected with a parasite that burrows into your brain. Kinda like the Ceti eels from Wrath of Khan only these go in through the eye instead of the ear.

Gradually you find out there are other folks with the same issue, only they're all controlled by a mysterious higher intelligence that makes them do evil and crazy things on its behalf.

Their whole purpose is to infect everyone else with the worms that live in their brains.

One thing about the West is people are in love with their own realities out here. I still think of this guy I met at a bar in Portland who told me things were only true if you believe them and it's the only time I remember actually having the urge to poison someone.

There are a lot of things I want to be true. They seem to be at odds with how things are generally going.

Maybe I'm not trying hard enough. Maybe I have too much self doubt. Maybe I'm not taking the right vitamin supplements to inflict my imagination on the rest of the world. If I find the right cocktail you'll know, because you'll be living in a much better world where people who only believe what they want to believe are prohibited from voting or selling things.

Solipsism is a helluva drug.

Here are some things I want to believe:

Democracy still exists and is worth fighting for

ETs are benevolent and have prohibited us from blowing ourselves up

If I walk uphill for 35 minutes twice a day my blood pressure will go down

The future will be better

My elbow is supposed to feel/look like that

Canada will let me back in if I need to run off again

Run the Jewels 5 is finished and will drop on Christmas Eve (this year)

Flossing matters

Not owning or wanting a car makes me a superior person

Ghosts are just bored interdimensional entities

Oswald was aiming at something else

Happy thankerings.

Grateful I got to spend time in Canada, and I'm glad in coming back to the U.S. I had an excuse to go to California.

Grateful for the time that gave me to get my thinking straight, and to write a whole pile of rough drafts decent enough to turn into something else

Grateful for not being homeless and for having the faculties to continue doing whatever it is I do

Grateful for being able to post asynchronously on this platform

Grateful for awesome friends to spend Thanksgiving with in this warm enough place

Grateful my parents and my sister are healthy

Grateful some of you are still reading this and I hope you all are well
